Start with your measurements.
Use a soft tape measure and measure over light clothing. Keep the tape level and relaxed. These general body measurements are a starting point; they are not measurements of an individual garment.

How to measure
Chest / bust: Around the fullest part, keeping the tape under your arms.
Waist: Around your natural waist, without pulling the tape tight.
Hips: Around the fullest part of your hips.
For oversized silhouettes, compare a garment you already enjoy wearing and consider how much room you want for layering.
Compare like with like.
A / Chest: flat underarm-to-underarm width.
B / Length: high shoulder point to hem.
C / Sleeve: shoulder seam to cuff.
A flat garment width is different from a body circumference. Compare the same type of measurement on both pieces.
Measure a piece you already love.
For a useful comparison, lay a similar garment flat without stretching it. Use the same units for every measurement.
- Chest width: measure straight across from underarm to underarm. This is a flat width, not your body circumference.
- Body length: measure from the high shoulder point beside the neck to the bottom hem.
- Shoulder width: measure across the back between the shoulder seams. Dropped-shoulder styles will naturally measure wider.
- Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder seam along the outside sleeve to the cuff.
